2021 FEDERAL MINISTRY OF TRANSPORTATION AND NIGERIA TRANSPORTATION COMMISSIONERS FORUM ANNUAL RETREAT.
THEME: DEVELOPING AND FOSTERING SYNERGY IN THE MANAGEMENT OF SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT POLICIES.
As part of efforts to foster collaboration and synergetic engagements towards transportation development in Nigeria, the Nigeria Transport Commissioners’ Forum holds its retreats each year in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Transportation and other Transportation Stakeholders.
DESIROUS of continuous partnership and synergy in the course of achieving its objectives, the 2021 Retreat was themed: Developing and Fostering Synergy in the Management of Sustainable Transport Policies.
COMMITTED to increased productivity at the sub-national level and intermodal development and providing a peer mechanism platform for the Sector in line with global best practices, a two (2) day retreat was held, amidst innovative exhibition and election of new Executives of the Forum, among others.
CONSCIOUS of the reality that policy ideals can only be achieved on the strength of a proper understanding of stakeholders’ expectations, convergence of ideas and effecting necessary process changes, a wide range of speakers were invited to speak to the Forum during the 2021 Retreat and a robust discussion ensured with a view to reaching a consensus for implementable deliverables.
The opening session was attended by Political Leaders, Captains of Industry, Technocrats and other stakeholders in the transportation industry in Nigeria and beyond. Amongst whom were:
The Minister of State for Transportation (HMST), Senator Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki; the Chairman, Senate Committee on Land Transportation, represented by Sen. Istifanus Gyang; the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Mrs Magdalene Ajani.
Others were Special Guests like – the Executive Governor of Niger State, His Excellency, Abubakar Sani Bello, represented by the Honorable Commissioner of Industry, Commerce and Environment, Dr. Mustapha Jibril and the Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Willie Obiano represented by the Commissioner of Transport in the State, Hon. Afam Mbanefo. The Director-General, Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, Zaria, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah. Transport Commissioners, Special Advisers and State Permanent Secretaries from 25 States of the Federation, Heads of Safety, Traffic and Security Agencies, Transport Unions and Associations, NGOs and Civil Society, amongst others.
